This was taken on Camille's first day of kindergarten.
Daniel looks on admiringly.  It's been a difficult transition
for all of us.  Camille was in a class of 18 students and three teachers
last year.  Now, it's 27 kids and one teacher!  Camille doesn't get
nearly the attention she craves.  Molly and I get overwhelmed by 1. the
number of trees cut down to make flyers that Camille brings home for
the parents to read, and 2. the volunteer duties in her classroom.

Camille and Daniel hang out on their new climbing bar.

We spent my birthday in a rented cabin on the Hood Canal, named
the Tides Inn.  Here I received a beautiful present from Camille -
a Ziploc bag with 17 cents and a love note.  It rained the whole time,
but we had a blast.

Camille played soccer in the Ballard Youth Soccer Club.  Here she shows off her
stuff.  She enjoyed the practices and the snacks, but was a somewhat reluctant
player.  She had some good interceptions and saves, but didn't have much endurance
or focus for sustained play.  But, then again, she was five.

And then, the expected occurred.  Camille turned six.

The female portion of the family pose on a fall hike.  We tried to find
wild porcini or other edible mushrooms, but we struck out.  We found
lots of mushrooms, but none we could identify as safe to eat.

Camille created her own design for her Jack-O-Lantern.  Daddy obligingly carved.

Tami and her son Jackson were here for the festivities.  Jack scoops pumpkin seeds.

Tami reads books to the kids in Daniel's new bunk bed in his newly
remodeled bedroom with purple walls.

Camille serves up something delicious.

For Thanksgiving, Camille peeled a lot of
Satsuma oranges and arranged them neatly
for the cheese and fruit course.

For Camille's birthday, she got a marble run.  Her interest was fleeting, but the folks
with XY chromosomes got very interested.

Daniel draws a picture of the family.  You can make out the
neatly arranged stick figures on the paper.

A bit of dress up.

If Camille gets ponytails, then so does our son.

Daniel and Oakley (now 14) pose by the Christmas tree.

Here's Camille's letter to Santa.  A rough translation: "To: Santa Claus I want
a notebook and that fairy book that Avrelle [a friend] has and art supplies
and you can [undecipherable] more presents.  Camille"

For Christmas eve, we make ravioli.  Here Daniel pitches in.

Daniel got a new red scooter from Santa.

Camille plays with one of her many gifts.

Camille and Daniel open stocking stuffers.
