We went to Mexico for a winter vacation recently. We flew into
Puerto Vallarta and upon the recommendation of Molly's Aunt Esther and
Uncle Earl, we traveled an hour and half North to a small town that
catered to Mexican tourists. Rincon de Guayabitos was busy on the
weekend (see above), but deserted during the week (see below). We were
one of a very few white people in town. Some people spoke some English, but
most did not. I spoke enough Spanish to get myself in trouble and Molly
spoke enough to get me out of trouble. Camille learned a few words and
can count to ten in Spanish. Daniel just smiled a lot and flirted with
everyone he met.

We had the beach practically to ourselves during the week.

there for the first two nights.

Camille and Molly outside our "bungalow" in Guayabitos. We had a
two bedroom place with a kitchen. Wisely, the place faced North to
shield us from the mid-day tropical sun, which was very intense.

Much fun was had on the beach, digging holes, getting sandy
and wet, jumping in the waves, etc.

The beach was less than 100 feet from our bungalow.

Here's more fun in the mud. It took some intense showering
to get all the sand off sunscreen-coated bodies.

Camille played a lot with the manager's boys. Here they run
through spray from a hose held by Martín, the manager. His two
boys, Jonathan and Juan Carlos enjoy being wet on the right.
Every day Camille would ask to play with Jonathán. We couldn't
figure out why he was so interesting. Camille spoke virtually no
Spanish and Jonathán spoke no English. They both looked to
me for translation services, but my Spanish was too limited
to be very useful.

Daniel in his favorite state - sandy.

We took a side trip to Tepíc, the capital of the state
of Nayarit. Here Camille climbs an inflatable carnival
toy at a nearby park. Being very athletic and loving to
climb, she was in seventh heaven.

We took another side trip to the next beach town. It was very
hot and sunny. Here Camille relaxes with a cold drink.

Father and son contemplate the beach at the end of our trip.
